Recycled Motor Oils Are Just Fine
By Harvey L. Brown
Changing of car oil is one of the responsibilities that a driver must do in order for his car to function well. Can you imagine yourself as a car without any maintenance at all? Can you survive with dirt and mud around your body? Can you function if your oil has black solid particle stuff and slimy dark substances from the outside world? Isn't that bad to experience all of these things? In comparison to people, cars and any vehicle should also have daily maintenance such as car wash, vacuums on the inside part and tune-ups. Moreover, they also need a regular change of oil along with oil filter to function well.
When removing and replacing removing and replacing your motor oil which has tons of miles or kilometers on it , there are some steps that you need to follow in order to be successful. It has a series of steps that a driver must do without any miss. To begin with, he should gather the needed materials such as oil filter wrench to unscrew the old filter and tighten the new one, adjustable wrench to manipulate the oil drain plug, a clean and large container to catch the old oil, oil drain gasket plug if you need it for your car, a funnel to facilitate the pouring of oil into the engine, a work light to see the underneath part of the vehicle and rags to wipe your dirty oil around the oil plug and dipstick.
After gathering all the needed materials, you may now proceed to the steps. You may also jack up your car to facilitate better visualization on your workplace, but make sure that the oil drain plug is located at the lower end of the oil pan. If you are not going to jack up your car, always block the wheels through the use of jack stands. The first step that you need to do is to warm your engine for 30-60 seconds so that the gook churned up and can flow out of the engine without difficulty. Turn your work light and go underneath the car. The following steps include: Look for the oil drain plug which is located at the bottom part of the engine and push the basin with a bag opened inside it under the oil drain plug and use the adjustable wrench to unscrew it. You may protect your hands by wrapping them with a clean plastic or rag, but make sure to use your bare hands to give the last quick turn. Remove the cap from the oil filter at the top of your engine and unscrew it using an oil filter wrench.
Replace the oil filler cap and turn on your engine for 30-60 seconds as your seventh step. Check for leaks from the oil drain plug and new oil filter. Your next step involves proper assessments such as checking your oil pressure light on the dashboard and making sure that it should go out in 10-15 seconds. If the light doesn't change or go out, check the leaks under your car. Essentially, running the engine will provide oil circulation into the new oil filter so you need to make sure that your filter is full to get an accurate assessment such as reading on the oil dipstick.
Shut off your engine and wait for five to ten minutes for the oil to settle into the oil pan Check the level of your oil through the use of dipstick. Always add oil into the oil filter until your dashboard signals a FULL line. Remove the drain pan under your car and drive for few times. Recheck and assess again using your dashboard indicator. You can contact some automotive stores to sell your used oil or surrender it to the nearest toxic waste disposal center.
