An Overview On Drag Handlebars Connected Designs
By Jeffrey Cole
Modern cycles are unique in their outward appearance, shape as well as how they are ridden. This has been made possible by various components but most importantly newer versions of handles. Besides drag handlebars, there are over ten other types of grips. Notably, each one of them is unique and suited for a specific cycle model. For instance, Zed bars are designed to provide comfort while riding. On the other hand, ape hangers are tall to enhance unique outward appearance. Detail description of other models is given below.
The first model is the Z-bar. Hand-grips are named Z-bars due to their shape. Normally, tubes are placed on angles like contrasting Zs. Their inner arrangement yields a small inward rise. Notably, switches are not very wide neither are they tall. For this reason, Z-bars are best for choppers or custom motorcycles which need not to be wide. Additionally, hand-grips are almost straight. There are two categories of such make. First is Maynard then Zed bars. Their difference lies in the steepness of Z angle between holders.
The second variation is the ape hangers. Just as the name suggests, switches are so tall that a rider has to reach up to have a grip on them. While riding, users look like apes. Their unique factor is height. Some can be as tall as twenty-four inches. They are not suitable for people who look for comfort or control while purchasing a bike. Ape grips are common in choppers and cruisers. There are two variations if this makes. Mini or baby apes are shorter compared to Buck-horn.
Club man bars are made of a single tube which is clipped on the front. This make is designed for long distance rides at high speed. To facilitate this, hand-grips are placed such that air resistance is minimized as much as possible. They are common in sports bikes and could be seen in British cafe bikes originally.
Clip-on switches are simply mounted on the top front part of a bike. Holds are uniquely placed low to help riders lean forward while cycling. For this reason, they are most suitable for sports motorbikes. Handles can be pulled or pushed away from a rider, a feature that is unique to this variety of holds. An alternative is faux clip-ons which are immovable.
Another model is motocross handles. Such holders are common in dirt cycles even though they may be used in different models. Such hand-grips are unique because they are very straight. Though a few are curved on mounting bars, a straight hand-grip is placed across to enhance rigidity.
A slight variation of motocross is tracker handles. They are flatter hence preferred in flat trail cycling. Additionally, the tracker model can be made from normal wiring or cables thus very easy to install.
There is Keystone bars. Like Zed handles, these holders form an opposing Z both ends. Their variance is on the top portion whereby for keystone model, levers are more slant inwardly to pose a more aggressive appearance.
