It is not unusual to want to change the frame of your motorcycle especially when it has been damaged. More often than not it is better to install a new frame using a v Rod Body Kit as getting the exact part that was damaged or scratched is either difficult or impossible. It is normally the only way to maintain the aesthetic value of the bike with nothing seeming off due to little differences in the frame.

Apart from how a bike handles and its performance, bikers are also very particular on how the bike actually looks. Any scratches or dents will have a biker up in arms and rushing to their mechanics to have them fixed. Unfortunately, it is not always that you will find the exact part in the same color or form that will match the bike.

Most of the modifications insurance normally approved are those that are regarded as standard. Standard modifications are those that are similar or aim at maintaining the original form of the motorcycle. Examples of such modifications include adding accessories and even a simple paint job.

Many companies are likely to approve the installation of a body kit but not with a few issues especially if the kit is very different from the standard form. A frame is much more appealing aesthetically and is likely to get denied or increase your premium. This is because of a bike with an alluring frame is more likely to get stolen and is prone to damages.

As much as it is easy to purchase whatever kind of frame one would want for the bike, it is not that straight forward when it comes to warranty and insurance. It is best to wait out the warranty period before installing a new body kit. Installing it before the warranty expires result in the cancellation of the warranty meaning that should anything happen before the expiration, you will have to bear the burden of the cost.

The next thing to consider is insurance of the bike. Before installing a new body, you need to talk to your insurance company and find out if the modification is considered standard. Standard modification is considered to be one that basically retains or returns the bike into its original form. You will also need to give details of the type of kit that you are installing and the cost.

This will determine if the insurance company will approve the modification or refuse. Many insurance companies do not have a problem in installing a new body what they normally have an issue is with the type. If the type of body installed will increase the aesthetic value of the bike greatly, then your premium is likely to increase as chances of the bike getting stolen are high increasing their chances of paying out.

If the insurance company does not agree with the type of kit you want, it is better to find one that they will approve. Going against their wishes will put you in a tricky spot when claiming as they are likely to decline due to the changes. It is therefore important to consult with your insurance company before installing any frame onto your bike to ensure that whatever changes you make are covered.
