Accessing manholes and inspection chambers can be difficult if the covers cannot be opened easily. The covers used to cover the manholes are designed of heavy materials and lifting them is a big problem. The traditional way of pulling and lifting those covers proves a challenge for many contractors and technicians. Maintenance personnel can take advantage of the state-of-the-art manhole cover lifter, a tool designed to allow them lift covers effortless and safely.

Traditionally covers of manholes have been lifted by hand or use of some other crude tools. However, before holding the covers with your hand, you need to do some unseating or freeing up from the frames. At times, these covers are deeply and firmly embedded in the frame. What this means is that you cannot pull and lift them using your hand.

The hammer may miss the crowbar and hit the feet or toes. Additionally, lifting hammers can cause muscle and joint sprains. There is a lot of lifting activity involved when you use traditional methods to unseat and free up covers from manholes. The manholes may not have been opened for quite a while and this means that the frame and cover could be difficult to release.

The key slot connects with the manholes covers in order to help in unseating those lids. Though the key slots have fixed positions that allow covers to be lifted evenly and uniformly, at times, there is need for some force to be applied when trying to free up or unseat covers. The key slots do not permit an unseating force to be applied at the edge of covers, and this is where the force is actually needed.

Back pains can arise when lifting covers using the hands. Since you have to bend and grip the covers using hands before lifting them, something can happen which causes your back to sprain or experience an unexpected stress. When lifting covers with hands, they also likely to slip out of hand and fall.

With the constant exposure of covers and frames to moisture and rainfall, corrosion will occur if the materials are metallic. The corroding surfaces allow despots of rust and other materials to form on those covers and frames. This also makes the task of lifting those covers very difficult. When you use the crowbars and sledge hammers, you will incur costs such as damage or breaking of lids.

The hammers may be heavy enough to cause cracks or break the covering metallic material. If in the event of wielding the hammer, it misses and lands on the surface of manholes covers, the results could be a broken cover. Moreover, wielding a sledge hammer may result to impact, injuries, and strains. You could risk injuring the hands or causing sprains on joints.

In addition, if you have to spend more time removing covers, it means the tasks you can handle for certain period are reduced. The cost of doing the work increases because you need other tools like hammers and pneumatic drills, which are unnecessary. The modern manhole covers lifters are designed to enable workers be able to unseat and lift covers easily and in the most safest manner.
