Dewatering is a process through which excessive water is removed from the ground in order to facilitate proper construction. A building that is constructed in an environment with water may not be very strong and is bound to fall apart after a while. There is a kind of pump that does not involve any kind of moving parts. This is known as an airlift pump. It only has one vertically placed pipe. This pipe is usually connected to a supply of compressed pressure. This air once released carries the water with a lot of force into the disposal area. Compared to other kinds of pipes, it is the easiest one to use.
Centrifuges are used for dewatering. The main goal is to separate the solid from the liquid. There usually is a small bowl spinning at a very high speed. The force of this speed directs water in one way and the solid in another. The solids are usually attached to the walls of the bowl and are removed after the process is done.
Vacuum filters are another way of dewatering. This is mainly used for removing liquids from solids. They save money that would have been used in heat treatment. This is saving money especially if the solid in question was to be disposed of in the long run. It may difficult to dispose of some solids especially when they still have some liquid in it.
Vacuum filters is also another method of draining unwanted water. Just like in the use of centrifuges, the main aim is to separate the solid from the liquid. The porous plates separate the liquids from the solid. The pressure pushes the water into the pores and further into the drainage pipe while the solid is stuck in between the pores.
Finally, there is the sludge lagoon. This is used in preventing water from any sort of liquid from seeping onto the surface. It may be left for almost a year or more when the liquid has naturally evaporated, or the buildings foundation is built on there.
